Fabu and Jane to Celebrate Mary Lou Williams at the Kennedy Center

Madison’s own Fabu Phillis Carter, the city’s first African American Poet Laureate, and acclaimed jazz pianist Jane Reynolds will perform “Remember Me: Mary Lou Williams in Poetry and Music” at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. on Saturday, May 10th. Their appearance is part of the 2025 Mary Lou Williams Jazz Festival and marks the fulfillment of a longtime dream to honor the jazz legend on a national stage. Local fans can celebrate the moment at Café CODA with a free film screening and livestream watch party.
